Lowen is truly independent
Lowen has no conflict of interest and is not a council dependent. He does not work for council. A Councillor who is a dependent has the potential for their personal interests to adversely impact their voting, which might not be in the best interests of our Council. Lowen looks forward to the new Council Code of Conduct becoming operational on October 26.
Lowen enjoys meeting the residents at the Sunday election forum.
Lowen said his approach as a councillor would be to work with the local community, forming productive teams. This drew enthusiastic support.
He can attend all Council meetings
With no conflicts of interest, Lowen can stay for all meetings contributing to open and informed debate. He will not be in and out and up and down like a jack in the box.
He supports Mill House
Lowen has always worked for the community. He is currently Mill House's secretary. He uses his administrative experience and a huge amount of really hard graft to look after our community….Thanks Lowen, the Mill House team.
Driving support for women
Lowen will continue to prioritise family safety. He founded 16 Days Maryborough and has written and distributed a series of books about family safety. These are free to the local Maryborough, Bendigo and Ballarat communities.
Walking around the Central Ward.
Lowen delivers his leaflets with a cheery smile and a ready chat for all. Walking every road is a great way to see what is happening in the various streets and roads of the ward.
Lowen supports Local Festivals
Lowen is a hardworking supporter of Outburst: Winter Pride Maryborough. Lowen has demonstrated that he can work with the Shire’s Officers, Councillors and local businesses in delivering community festivals.
He is an active participant in local clubs
Lowen is a proud member of the Highland Bowls Club. He understands that it’s a team game where everyone contributes their best, and together, they work towards a win for all. A good model for any Councillor to follow!
He drives new community features
Lowen finds exciting cost effective new ways to promote local activities and groups within our Shire. Lowen will drive economic vitality through the promotion of our many innovative small businesses building employment.
He initiates new events
Telling our unique stories with STORY STREET is part of building pride in our families and communities. As a Councillor, Lowen will continue telling our community’s stories and work together for successful endings.
A keen and accurate eye for administration
After 10 years with the Dept. of Health, Lowen is used to monthly agendas with 1000 pages of supporting documentation! He is good at identifying the most important facts and figures and will bring these skills to the Council

Local festivals are important to celebrate and promote our Shire as vibrant. There are many talents in our community, and Lowen believes that everybody's talents should be supported and given a chance to blossom.
Family history in the Shire
Lowen’s family has been in this Shire since the 1860s, as early bullockies and as farmers. His family has an enterprising culture that will run strong in Lowen's approach to looking after the Shire's well-being.
